Community Early Childhood Councils

Community Early Childhood Councils bring together agencies and providers who serve the needs of Northern Kentucky children.

Started:

2000 as part of KIDSNOW initiative.

Mission,goals and objectives:

To bring together all parties involved in serving needs of children, birth to age 5, to assess and supplement services in individual counties. Parties include childcare centers, family resource centers, resource and referral sources, libraries and parents.

Children birth to age 5.
Current plans/ recent developments/ important updates
Councils have received grant money to purchase assessment materials for interested child care centers who participate in Council sponsored training. The Councils also hold Early Childhood Fairs each year.
In Boone County, the Council provides social emotional development training based on The Incredible Years curriculum to interested child care providers. Those care providers who attended training also received social emotional literacy kits.
In Campbell and Kenton Counties, Songs of Resilience social emotional training was provided by NorthKey Community Care and Children’s Inc. A promotional campaign for general well being including nutrition and exercise called Color Me Healthy is underway. The Council is also supporting Baby Teeth Matter, a promotion focused on oral health is distributing materials on the importance of good oral health in children.
