Regional Planning Council

As a result of Kentucky House Bill 843, the Regional Planning Council’s charge is to: assess the need for mental health and substance abuse services in Northern Kentucky; educate and inform local leadership about these regional needs and communicate these needs to the state-level commission, in order to influence the budgeting process and fund allocation.

Mission, goals, and objectives:

To assess needs for Mental Health and Substance Abuse services in the 8-county (Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton Counties) region.
To educate and inform local leadership (Northern KY MH-MR Regional Board, providers, consumers, legislators, community government, business) about regional needs for mental health and substance abuse services.
To communicate regional needs to the HB 843 Commission and associated State–level Workgroups in order to influence the budgeting process and funding allocation in the state budget for mental health and substance abuse services regionally and statewide.

Population served:

The information from the RPC is important to all residents in all eight counties in the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton Counties).

Routine (usually monthly) summary updates sent to all northern Kentucky legislative caucus members.

Requirements for membership:

Interest in supporting mental health and substance abuse services
Represent a group identified by the HB 843 legislation (consumers of services, family members of consumers of services, advocates, business leaders, county officials, providers of services, educators, Regional Interagency Council (RIAC) members, law enforcement Representatives, court personnel, health departments)

Meeting dates and times:

Regular meetings are on the second Friday of each month from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
